14th April, 2016, 14:33, lawyer, Mr Ge Yong-xi, posted a teasing picture about Chinese leaders and Panama Papers on a popular social platform, Weichat, in China. The picture shows 3 of the influential Chinese leaders, and with the dialogue as “Panama’s river is really deep!” and “The River we cross by feeling the stones is Panama Canal!”
At 23:53, Mr Ge posted a status: “police suddenly came to my home for no purpose, please pay attentions!” Mr Ge’s family members said that there were 5 police in plain clothes knocked his door, claimed that his post about the Chinese leaders and Panama Papers is very influential on the internet. They did not show any warrant but detained him immediately. They told his family members that they are the police from Yan-bu Police Station, Nan-hai District, Fo-shan City.
15th April, 2016, 3 a.m., Yan-bu Police Station called the Ge family that Mr Ge had been summoned for further investigations, by using the phone number of 0757-85797110.
Till 15th April, 2016, 12:00 p.m., Mr Ge is still being detained. Another lawyer, Mr Chen Jin-xue, is now rushing to the police station to meet up with Mr Ge.
